Patients and/or health care provider can refer to Social Work. It is important to know there is currently a waitlist for Social Work. Once a referral is made, the patients name is added to the waitlist. When a Social Worker becomes available, the patient is called to schedule an appointment to begin the assessment process.
Counseling is time limited and supports the patient to become independent as quickly as possible.
Counselling is multi-pronged: educational, future focused and goal directed.
Private insurance such as EAP must be accessed first before ESFHT counselling is available.
Attend sessions on time and cancel in advance if you cannot attend.
Complete any homework or skill practice between sessions.
Understand that fully participating in counselling is hard work and takes commitment!
Social Workers do offer workshops on a variety of topics throughout the year, often working with other members of the health care team as well as community partners. Watch the community calendar for upcoming events.
